Behind the Scenes: Moving a Boat by Air

Transporting oversized cargo is always an adventure, but moving a 51-foot boat by air? That takes serious planning, precision and teamwork.

Diego Furno, Manager, Charter Sales, South America, recently shared an inside look at an operation that did just that—moving a boat from Manaus International Airport (MAO) to Miami International Airport (MIA) as part of our South America Scheduled Service.

The boat, weighing in at 7.5 tons, was carefully maneuvered and loaded through the aircraft’s nose—a process captured in a series of incredible videos.** But getting to that moment took weeks of meticulous coordination.

“We worked closely with the customer, Atlas Ground Operations at MAO, and our Special Loads team to map out the best approach for loading the boat,” said Diego. “Additionally, one of our Loadmasters in Manaus conducted an in-person assessment to ensure every detail was accounted for before the transit began.”
